Project angel heart.

Mission: Project Angel Heart was founded in 1991 to address a major challenge for Coloradans who are ill: getting the nutrition they need to get stronger, heal, and remain at home. Many are too sick to get to the grocery store or unable to cook for themselves. Others find that they have to choose whether to buy food or medication to make ends meet. That’s why Project Angel Heart prepares and delivers medically tailored meals to people living with life-threatening illnesses. Each week, their professional chefs and registered dietitian prepare thousands of delicious meals, from scratch, and tailor them to meet the medical and dietary needs of those who are ill.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • No max number of volunteers per shift

  • Families welcome

  • No age requirements as long as children are accompanied by an adult

Description of Project/Services Needed:

  • Bag Decoration: We are now checking out and accepting decorated meal bags! We offer a no-contact bag pickup and drop-off process at our office in Denver and Colorado Springs. Help bring cheer to our clients by decorating meal delivery bags! Meal bags are picked up at our office and decorated offsite at your location. This is a great way to introduce volunteers of all ages and abilities to the service provided by Project Angel Heart and have a positive impact on the lives of our clients. All ages may participate.

  • Garden Assistant: Garden assistants work with our lead gardener to help with weeding, harvesting, and washing produce grown in the Project Angel Heart garden to get it ready for cooking. Positions are available at our Denver location during the growing season.

  • Meal Delivery Driver: Delivery drivers pick up meal bags, either at Project Angel Heart or from one of several satellite locations across Denver or Colorado Springs and deliver them to neighbors who need nutritious meals. This is a great family opportunity. All ages welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
